Super Bowl Sunday! Last night we decided to experience a bit of the Super Bowl Fever that has gripped San Diego...we rode the Coaster (commuter train) from Carlsbad to the center of San Diego from where we had only a 2 block walk to San Diego Bay, the site of much of the hoopla around the Super Bowl. We got there in time to see the terrific fireworks show that was done off several barges located all around San Diego Bay. The crowds were enormous, no doubt enlarged by the balmy, windless night. It took us a long time to get home on the standing-room only train, but in the end it was worth it.
Today, though, since we didn't have to worry about getting to the stadium early like the Super Bowl ticketholders, we walked to the beach and spent several hours enjoying the 80 degree weather and lovely surf views, before getting back in time for kick-off.
