August 2004

It's been a busy month here in Bend, OR.  We had the FMCA Rally nearby which was fun to visit...but not stay at! (several thousand motorhomes were there!)  We went to see the various vendors of "must haves" for RVs as well as all the new coach models...nope, didn't buy one! We like ours!   Also, several friends were in for visits as well as making new friends.

This area has been great to stay in for an extended period of time.  There is SO MUCH to see!  If you get here for a visit, pick up the book  Central Oregon Walks, Hikes, and Strolls for Mature Folks (<g>) which is an excellent guide to various walks and hikes in the area. It's great!

The volcanic history of the area makes for crystal clear lakes, streams, rivers, snow-covered mountains, forests of fir trees, etc. We took advantage of the high desert climate and took many hikes to interesting sights...mostly waterfalls!

L-R: Horse Sculpture near Sisters, OR; South Sister and Sparks Lake; Multnomah Falls on the Columbia River Gorge near Portland; Chris in one of the forests here; North Sister and Middle Sister seen from McKenzie Pass and the lava fields in front.
