APRIL 2002

April 27, 2002. Moab, UT.  We had one of the most beautiful trips here of all our trips so far.  After leaving Las Vegas where we had stayed for 3 days with perfect weather, we traveled north on I-15 to Zion National Park.  We spent 2 nights outside of Zion and spent one day seeing the valley floor on the tram, taking short walks to see some of the beautiful scenery.  Thursday, we left Zion, expecting to travel in rain (according to the forecast) part of the way to Moab, but the day ended up being lovely, so we decided to stop at Bryce National Park which was only 30 miles off our path "just to have lunch and to scope it out for a further visit...well, it was so lovely, that we stayed the rest of the day and overnight...spending most the day viewing the absolutely awesome scenery. If you've never been to Bryce, you must put it on your "Must See" list of our natural wonders.  Chris was able to hike down the  canyon, but I'll have to wait for another visit and take a mule trip down...my knees just won't quite do all that vertical hiking! We met up with another couple we spent the evening with exchanging travel information until 10:30 when we finally had to get back to our rig.  Bryce is on our list of Top 10 places for sure!

April 8, 2002. Oceanside, CA. Back with the family...next two weeks will be in old home territory. No traveling for 2 weeks.

April 3, 2002. Junction City, OR.  We're supposed to be finished today with our repairs and upgrades at Country Coach, so hope to head back towards San Diego tomorrow afternoon after having a cabinet installed at the local cabinet shop that has done other work for us here. The weather is supposed to deteriorate for Friday, so we hope to make it over the mountain passes by tomorrow evening so we won't have to worry about being stuck until chain controls are taken off.

Junction City, pop. 4400, is in the middle of the Willamette River Valley and is a lovely little town with fertile fields surrounding it.  It is an area that is known for growing grass seed, so there are acres and acres of green fields all over.  Sheep are grazing on the fields now...cheap lawnmowers we figure!

Spring is in full flower here with the pollen count SUPER HIGH! It's beautiful to look at, but even the poodle we dogsat yesterday was sneezing every time we took her out! The Jeep is covered with fine, yellow dust in minutes after cleaning it off.

It's been a fun time here, but it'll be good to be back on the road!
